I really hope this is a correction in concert prices. It’s been out of control for too long, and it’s about time they come down. I wanted to see Pearl Jam, Foo Fighters, and RHCP, but passed on all because it just didn’t make financial sense.

I realize the answer here, especially for this particular thread, is to go see more local or obscure shows, and yea, that’s definitely doable, but sometimes you like to see the big dogs too.

Since our kids graduated high school last year, the wife and I have been on a real live events tear. We have the time, money, and didn't really do that many shows after college since we had little kids, less money, and no free time. After doing 3-5 shows a year for the prior decade, we did 25 shows last year and are up to 40 shows for this year (been to 19, tix for 21 purchased) so far. I think when it is all said and done we will do at least 45 shows (which would be a fun coincidence since I turn 45 this year) or possibly even get to 50.

We saw Future Islands and Valient Thorr at Cat's Cradle on Monday. Tonight we are going to see Electric Callboy at the Greensboro Special Events Center. Living just outside of Carrboro is pretty awesome for live events as it puts you almost in the center of most of the venues in the area. Just under an hour to the Raleigh venues and same for the Greensboro venues. Motorco and DPAC are maybe half an hour and I pass the Cradle and 506 on the way home from work, so those are like a five minute drive home. I definitely try to grab seats though these days. I stood up for the whole Lorna Shore show last week, and I'll probably be on my feet for the whole Electric Callboy/Polaris/Scene Queen show tonight, but I like to get to shows early just to grab the seats whenever possible.
