9/8/2012 3:22:47 PM
good god that was awful. but thankfully the acc has the big least to push around except in 70 point bowl games
9/8/2012 3:22:54 PM

Now, Let's Go Deacs!
9/8/2012 3:29:08 PM
9/8/2012 3:32:00 PM
if I bet on them NOT covering, they do, and usually in some bullshit manner (see the retarded ass GT game last year). If I bet on them covering, they dont, usually in a manner similar to this game
9/8/2012 3:36:25 PM
to me, it seems like you should stop betting to me
9/8/2012 3:38:20 PM
9/8/2012 3:40:35 PM
Wasn't there stat posted a couple weeks ago about TOB being one of the best coaches against the spread?
9/8/2012 3:45:38 PM
9/8/2012 3:46:28 PM
motherfucker said "quite"
9/8/2012 3:46:58 PM
I think TOB was very good against the spread when not favored
9/8/2012 3:47:14 PM
speaking of lines, what the fuck is wrong with State's O-line??
9/8/2012 3:49:02 PM
um, theres 5 of them and UConn was regularly sending 6 blitzers?
9/8/2012 3:50:04 PM
ah yes, that new thing they invented just for this game, no o-line has ever had to deal with that... stupid question on my part
9/8/2012 3:51:11 PM
this just in, other positions that can provide blocking support: TE, FB, RBfrom what I saw our backs were pretty solid at picking up extra blitzers. our line was just getting abused. williams on their d-line is a legitimate force, so i'll give us a pass on some of the plays he made. but we gave up at least 4 other sacks to the other guys out there and our line was just getting manhandled.and not to mention how terrible they were in the running game for the majority of the time.
9/8/2012 3:53:33 PM
^ I appreciate the actual knowledgeable sports talk, its rare in here now days.what was the actual final sack total?[Edited on September 8, 2012 at 3:55 PM. Reason : d]
9/8/2012 3:54:42 PM
9/8/2012 3:55:09 PM
^^looks like 6 total, 2 for williams. one of the sacks could have been given to any one of about four guys, not sure who got the credit on that one.
9/8/2012 4:03:56 PM
One thing I learned from this game -- our two starting DTs are a lot better than I expected. McGill and Teal were getting penetration every single play I watched. Not sure whether UCONN'S interior oline was garbage or not, but those two were big time today.Oh, and Sterling Lucas is pretty good.Everything else was pretty expected ... underwhelming, but expected.
9/8/2012 4:05:49 PM
So you expected our veteran o-line to get raped by a big east team?
9/8/2012 4:16:14 PM
i would have liked to see some more hard counts since UConn wasn't really trying to disguise any of their blitzes...if you know you've got pressure coming from multiple linebackers/safeties on one side of the field, somebody is gonna be open for a quick read on that side of the field

1st sack:2nd & 5rb: washingtonwallace gets beat on the edge by his guy. 2 other guys running free, washington doesn't know which to pick up and decides picking up neither would be best. glennon gets drilled by three large men, jesse joseph gets credited with the sack.2nd sack:3rd & 9rb: creecytwo guys get penetration right through the center of our line, creecy (sort of) picks up the first guy, but then moore follows completely unchecked and gets the sack. it's possible that creecy's guy would have ended up getting a sack there too, but glennon would have had another second or two to get rid of it.3rd sack:3rd & 4rb: greenegreene is a receiver on this play, pressure comes from the left edge when williams eventually beats his guy. i give the line a pass on this one. williams is a beast and glennon had time to get rid of the ball. he either didn't see williams coming or grossly overestimates his own speed.4th sack2nd & 11rb: washingtonwilliams runs right by his man off the edge and has an easy sack/fumble on glennon. washington is in there and it seems pretty clear he's anticipating pressure up the middle. i suppose he could have been more observant and tried to pick williams up off the edge, but i think this is mostly a blown block by the lineman. yes, williams is good, but i don't think we even got a hand on him there. can't do that. lucky we recovered the fumble so we could make the big play on 3rd down.5th sack:1st & 10rb: greenegreene's assignment is a block to the right & release to run a checkdown route. pressure comes right up the middle, and it looks like they only sent 4 rushers. the line has to win that battle. pruitt gets the sack.6th sack:2nd & 5rb: greene3 guys get penetration, greene picks up one of them. glennon steps up to avoid the pressure but doesn't get rid of it and takes the sack. looks like smallwood and williams shared credit for that one.so looking at all the sacks, only the first one could have remotely been blamed on a back (washington), but wallace was beat and no back could have blocked 2 guys running through that gap. i think it's a sack even if washington had picked one of them up perfectly.so i say 5 bad sacks given up by our line, plus 1 great play by williams and a bad play by glennon to not get rid of it in time. our line blows. i must be a masochist for even wanting to go back and re-watch those sacks.

Caught some of the Postgame Show with Mark Thomas in the car (mistake, i know). I realize that he is payed by the school, has to make it sound good, etc. But you woulda thought we steam rolled UConn. He actually praised an "up and coming offense".
9/8/2012 4:53:45 PM
haha. glennon threw 31 TDs and 12 INTs last season. through two games he has 2 TDs and 4 INTs. i do expect those numbers to look much better in 3 weeks though.
9/8/2012 5:31:44 PM
Getting some of that Connecticut wind here in Raleigh now. Holy shit.
9/8/2012 6:50:46 PM
yea THE WIND forced the team to land in greensboro
9/8/2012 10:29:56 PM
Hate I had to listen to the radio for this whole game, but Gary and Tony + pictures make up for it.
9/8/2012 10:59:49 PM
All white looks much MUCH better than a red.
9/8/2012 11:01:27 PM
Yea, we should switch all black to be our home colors, it looked so sick.
9/8/2012 11:26:01 PM
I haven't read the game thread yet, but I'm just going to go ahead and assume that skokiaan trolled the piss out of this thread today and NyM10 ignored it, as usual. Also, several other people slit their wrists
