It's been a bizarre couple of days. Decent chance that there wasn't really any kind of deal, but by Trump announced one - either because he's losing it, or strategically in order to force Israel to back down. If the former, well, we got lucky. If the latter, I will, on this one occasion, reluctantly hand it to him.

He clearly doesn't want a war with anyone. He wants to be able to drop some bombs and declare victory, and in this case I suspect even that took some convincing. So that's a very mixed bag. Glad he doesn't want a full-on war, worrying that he's so easily swayed (which we already knew) and that he seems to think he can reliably get away with some of these high-risk plays. There is a parallel to be made here to, well, Hitler. Not the tired old fascist/evil parallel, but the pattern of being rewarded for bold international moves, getting overconfident, and eventually going one step too far.
