LOL @ good people. If they're good, then they're stupid as hell. If they're not stupid, there's no way they are good.Fair penalties for criminal activity is not vengeance, and I guess it's all wiped out now, so who GAF, right? But I'm not overly surprised that you seek to frame it that way. I just don't know whether you are trolling or not.Are you in the January 6 was a tourist visit camp?]

^ Frame it what way? If Trump and his crew had any real power they wouldn’t have been getting charges at all and kicked off social media. Shit, there were people that lost jobs just for being there that didn’t even enter the Capitol. If they ultimately lose this next one and he does not become literal Hitler, he and anyone in his administration, especially the likes of Miller, will be in a camp in Guantanamo. On Jan 6 in general I agree with Yarvin that rednecks cannot take over the government. Trump did not have near the support of the elites you need to pull that off. He said some spicy things and had agitators like Ali Alexander trying to sell the stop the steal. Disruptive, sure, but not an any way an insurrection.Trump may have that support today to try.[Edited on October 5, 2025 at 2:40 PM. Reason : A]

^^ it’s still an insurrection even if it’s unsuccessful.

^^^Frame it that January 6 participants are in any way victims.Someone will have to stop the escalations of retribution campaigns. That was not the way things were done in the past, and while sure I would like people acting a fool right now to face justice and be politically and socially radioactive, the greater win would be to put this dipshittery permanently behind us, and that certainly won't happen if every change of the party in power just seeks to punish whatever they didn't like about the last administration (which these days seems to be almost everything)."Elite" support for Trump would seem to be a temporary marriage of convenience and a prioritization of financial interests over ethics. Trump is a buffoon. But, he's going to die one day. Unfortunately there is a large crowd of much younger people who are equally if not more terrible, but who never had their own popular reality TV show and who we'll just have to see whether they hold the same sway over the formerly disinterested masses.]

^ not really victims, but one set of rioters got GoFundMes, the support of the vice president, pro bono law stuff and the other group rotted in prison for 4 years. Now it’s reversed for at least the next two years.^^ an insurrection requires elite support, institutional backing. I think they are more butt hurt that NAFTA took all the furniture and textile jobs from NC and instead of Outback dinners with their family they are in trailer parks and burying kids for fent overdoses.Maybe it is just Trump though.

Poor white Southerners have been voting reliably Republican since a decade and a half before NAFTA existed and almost a decade before Outback Steakhouse was founded, so that's probably it.I will never forgive the Democrats for forcing people to ingest Fentanyl.]

To think the mass protest that many consider the birthing event for the modern iteration of American Antifa occurred at the culmination of the Clinton free trade era. Where was MAGA? Some were shopping at Walmart-Mart, some were re-telling gay marriage jokes for the millionth time (wuts next, merry muh dawg?!1!?!1?), and some I assume were making principled arguments about free markets.
10/6/2025 5:23:41 PM

Seattle 1999 WTO protests birthed modern Antifa tactics, aesthetics, and vibe. The “enemy within” was making these anti-globalization arguments 25 years ago. The right called Antifa terrorists then too.I’m sympathetic to quite a bit of rank and file MAGA on this issue. I shopped at WalMart a shit ton over the last 25 years too. But Trump, Lutnick, Bessent, a majority of Congress, they all got rich during the era of manufacturing off-shoring and financialization of the economy. After 25 years of winning and getting filthy rich, now they want to turn the clock back to 1993? (1893?). The MAGA recession that will result from Trump’s tariff and trade policies is going to seriously delay Americans that met the challenge of our changing economy from realizing the same opportunities these rich politicians were gifted. All while, also, not bringing manufacturing jobs back. It’s such a waste of time to listen to these people lecture us about the economic conditions of the working class.
10/6/2025 7:21:19 PM
They don't shop at Walmart-Mart. MAGA shops at KKKMart.
10/6/2025 7:26:33 PM
ah, the WTO protests clarified it for me, thx.

^^I don’t know if it was inevitable, but if you wanted to stop globalization in this country, you should have been protesting in the street, next to Antifa, 25 years ago. In 2025, globalization is just reality and I agree, we should be taxing people like Lutnick and Bessent to soften the blow. Instead the Trump Administration chose to double down on tax cuts for themselves, cut benefits for the poor, and apply incoherent tariffs and malicious trade negotiations to destabilize the last few corners of the economy that still function for the middle class.
