As the proud owner/sporter of a Larry Johnson #2 Hornets jersey, I fully support this great endeavor.

Would be incredible if we got the Hornets name back.Tom Benson made comments about wanting to rebrand as something more New Orleans in nature, so hopefully the Hornets will be available soon.

why do the wings have horns?[Edited on April 15, 2012 at 10:35 AM. Reason : also the ball is completely behind his hand.]
4/15/2012 10:33:22 AM
Because they are fierce.
4/15/2012 7:33:05 PM
how could the person that made that new logo mock-up not know that the years of the team are wrong.

Rick Bonnell wrote a column about the Hornet movement. Since he's a hater, he's trying to argue that it might not be the best idea because of the $$ it would cost (he estimates $10 million). Fuck that ... the fact that it would make people actually give a shit about the Charlotte NBA franchise would be worth any cost. The Bobcats currently have no team pride, no brand recognition, and absolutely zero cool factor. Plus, it's not like MJ can't spare some change. With that said, POLL SKEW TIME ... Results so far are hilarious ... even Cougars above the bobcats
4/18/2012 9:23:15 AM
^ um he really can't actually. Team lost $20 million last year and probably that much this year. MJ is going to be forced to sell in a few years if he doesn't get out of the way and let someone else make the personnel decisions. He's not that rich he can't sustain these losses for long
4/18/2012 9:27:26 AM
Right, people don't realize that among NBA owners, Jordan is dirt poor. Almost his entire net worth is tied up in the team.
4/18/2012 9:29:28 AM
well he would be worth more if he didn't gamble it all away.

I know this thread is doing nostalgia and all but is there any greater symbol of a team never winning anything than the fact it hangs up an "Attendance Champion" banner?Always felt like the Panthers coming into town kind of help killed the Hornets.[Edited on April 27, 2012 at 2:52 PM. Reason : .]
4/27/2012 2:50:23 PM
No george shinn being a colossal douche bag is all that killed the hornets.I appreciate that the hornets always won more than 11% of their games.

4/27/2012 4:07:23 PM
We would've never gotten an NFL team if Shinn hadn't brought the hornets to townAnd as far as attendance champions, that banner is for their inaugural season...what were they supposed to win an NBA title in year one?
4/27/2012 4:12:04 PM
yeah but does having an NFL team mean an NBA team just can't or won't work in Charlotte at the same time? (to your point though, Jacksonville was the Panthers' expansion partner)[Edited on April 27, 2012 at 6:13 PM. Reason : .]
4/27/2012 6:11:14 PM
i think from about 1995-99 interest for both teams was through the roofi think the shift from NBA to NFL was mainly a result of Shinn wanting a new arena that the city didn't want to pay for...though I guess interest did start to wane also when they let Alonzo go...although the most successful Hornets team ever was BD/Wesley/Mash/PJ/Elden after Zo had already left]
4/27/2012 6:21:31 PM
i believe its silly to think the panthers helped cause the hornets to leave. really, the only thing i can think of would be that richardson showed everyone that all professional sports owners weren't horrible human beings.but seriously, the hornets left because george shinn was an asshole and everyone in the charlotte area hated that dude. that's why the city refused to build a new arena unless he sold the team.
