We had three quad 2 ooc wins, Mizzou only played one Quad 2 OOC game, away to ND, and they lost it

But we played a strong ooc schedule and had good ooc wins, it's a fact. Mizzou did not. What you said is also a fact. All the facts are supposed to make up a resume, if ooc schedule is irrelevant, ncaa should tell everyone so we can schedule mores cupcakes.

The big factors are pace, shot-making, and whether NC State can avoid letting Texas control the game physically. Texas already beat NC State 102-97 on November 26, 2025, shooting 56% from the field and 50% from three, so the Wolfpack has already seen how dangerous the Longhorn offense can be.

NC State’s edge is perimeter firepower and tempo, while Texas is more comfortable playing slower and leaning on interior scoring and half-court execution. Both teams also enter the First Four having lost five of their last six, so confidence and composure late will matter a lot.

For NC State specifically, Paul McNeil Jr.’s scoring pop is huge after his 26-point game against Virginia in the ACC tournament. If State wins the three-point battle and keeps Texas from getting efficient looks inside, it has a real shot.

Our OOC wins were mediocre at best. The only tournament team we beat out of conference was VCU, who only made it by upsetting their conference tournament. The committee chairman said they would not have been an at-large team. None of our other non-conference wins were particularly close to being tournament teams. Playing a strong schedule doesn't mean shit when you lose to all the good teams (and a handful of not good ones as well.)

Best OOC wins: VCU, Liberty (not good enough to be a top 4 seed in the NIT)????, uhhhh that's it. Boise State ended up not being particularly good and Ole Miss was godawful despite an SEC tournament run.
