holy fuck what an awesome win that was.

gg to the Os. I have felt bad for this team ever since that bullshit Jeffery Maier homerun crap that basically cost the Os that 1996 series against the Yankees. Yeah maybe the Yankees still win that series, but the Os would have been in control had they won that game. Braves and Orioles should have met that year for the WS, but instead the Yankees began their dynasty. /tinfoilhat
9/7/2012 10:44:08 AM
i want to punch Jeffrey Maier in the crotch
9/7/2012 11:46:10 AM
that damn kid got the next day off at school because of his shenanigans
9/7/2012 12:02:20 PM
amongst other things
9/7/2012 1:00:46 PM
let me get in on the Jeffrey Maier hatred.Had the shoe been on the other foot, and he was simply a Yankee version of Steve Bartman, he'd be in witness protection. Instead he cheats the other team, and they treat him like a hero.Fuck that kid, fuck the yankees, and fuck New York as a staff, record label, and as a motherfuckin crew.
9/7/2012 1:20:12 PM
i used to hate the yankees for a really long time because of jeffrey maier, but a few years ago i just stopped caring. the fans and media in new york made that whole episode what it was, and it sucks that the o's had to be the ones who got screwed because of it, but now the only frustration i feel about it is towards MLB for not having instant replay that far back even though it wasn't even a talking point. i was the same age as jeffrey maier when it happened. i would've done the same thing if i was him. no reason to bear irrational hatred towards a child because MLB has always been run by a bunch of backwards senior citizens who fear progress and change because they feel threatened by it.it's nice to not get pissed off at the sight of a yankees hat anymore. don't get me wrong though. i still dislike them and have been rubbing it in lately against my friend who is a yankees fan and would love it if they and the red sox spent a few years looking up at the rest of the division[Edited on September 7, 2012 at 2:45 PM. 9/7/2012 2:39:40 PM
i am not bothered by Yankees apparel because 99% of the people outside of NY wearing it don't give a fuck about the Yankees.
9/7/2012 2:50:45 PM
that's how i should've looked at it
9/7/2012 3:03:55 PM
haha sometimes i get irritated by this thoughat the same time it's hilarious because there's so much going on.
9/7/2012 3:08:57 PM
haha the fat guy in the world series shirt is just saying fuck you over and over
9/7/2012 3:11:17 PM
he's my favorite. he has to be yelling at the outfielder but then he just looks off into space and keeps saying it
9/7/2012 3:12:29 PM
Since I've got no team to cheer for this postseason I'm hoping the Orioles keep this going through to the WS. Fun team to watch and giving the Yankees all sorts of problems.

tomorrow could be the day when the losing streak ends. god damn. didn't think that day would be this close for a long time.
9/12/2012 11:20:21 PM
9/12/2012 11:23:13 PM
i love how this season they are just pulling guys off the street and they contribute and hit game winning RBIs
9/13/2012 11:11:29 AM
the losing streak is over. high fives, everyone.
9/13/2012 8:18:58 PM
for the record, I hope the A's sweep the O's this wkend. But if the O's do victor, please beat the damm Yankees and Angels for usthanks
9/14/2012 5:31:57 PM
the o's are the team of destiny so you should root for them over your own team
9/14/2012 6:42:34 PM
going to the game tonightthe orioles story would be heartwarming if we didn't have our own
9/14/2012 7:21:13 PM
the a's have been good more recently. we have the better narrative right now.
9/14/2012 8:02:07 PM
explain?we were picked to lose 100+ games this seasoni get that Baltimore is an awful franchise that hasn't won shit since I was in grade school (back when I lived in the DC area), but the A's haven't really been relevant in a while either.why are the O's a more likeable team with a 'better' story? I call East Coast bias...[Edited on September 14, 2012 at 8:14 PM. Reason : fuck it. time to get loaded and BART to the game ]
9/14/2012 8:09:57 PM
baltimore > oaklandthat = better story
9/14/2012 8:31:34 PM
9/14/2012 10:37:37 PM
actually, i guess the o's aren't really an underdog in the traditional sense. i've just kind of been conditioned to think of them that way
9/14/2012 11:53:55 PM
9/15/2012 3:10:22 AM
can we not argue over baltimore vs oakland as cities? it's gonna be a really fruitless debate
9/15/2012 12:46:35 PM
sorry, i was drunk when i got home from the game last night
9/15/2012 12:50:10 PM
so why exactly aren't you an o's fan if you grew up in the DC area? or nats fan since many of us were lost in the great defection of 2005[Edited on September 15, 2012 at 2:04 PM. Reason : nats]

good question.I really didn't care for baseball until I moved to California. The Orioles weren't that good when I was a kid, so my parents never wanted to drive all the way from NOVA to Baltimore to watch a losing team I guess. Until you actually go to a baseball game and start following it more closely, baseball is a pretty boring sport to watch on television. It really wasn't until I started going to Padres games with friends in 2005 that my interest in baseball grew. When I moved to the Bay Area a few years later, people were even more into baseball than football or basketball, so I got dragged to a ton of $2 A's game and I started liking it more and more. By no means am I the most knowledgeable baseball fan (wayyyy more into football/college hoops), but I really enjoy the gameday experience at an MLB game. Being able to take BART to an A's game and being around really friendly/knowledgeable baseball fans is a big part of why I like the game too...And as for the Nats? Well they weren't even around until I'd already moved to CA. Being that they're from the general area I grew up in, I'm glad to see them do well this season. I don't dislike the Orioles either btw, and it's cool they're having a similar season.
9/15/2012 5:22:35 PM
i see. i wish the a's could get a better stadium since the coliseum is apparently just a really shitty place to both play and watch baseball. it sucks that the giants are interfering with any attempt to set up a new stadium anywhere near the bay area even though they most likely wouldn't suffer from it at all. the a's would probably be able to bring in a lot more revenue, but i don't know if ownership would shoot for a publicly funded stadium. i imagine that'd be a pretty unpopular proposal in california right now.
9/15/2012 5:35:28 PM
the sad thing is that there a plenty of places to put an A's stadium that would yield similar attendance results as the Giants in ATT park. If you've ever been to a game there, it's like paradise compared to the dumpy O.coThey could easily build a waterfront stadium in Jack London Square which has tons of bars/restaurants and easy access to mass transit OR there's other options for a downtown/uptown stadium which offers the same exact thing. Last night was, by far, the largest crowd I've ever seen at an A's game and the atmosphere was just electrifying. Usually when the Yankees/Redsox/Dodgers/Giants are playing the A's, the stadium more filled with opposing fans than A's fans

9/15/2012 5:56:12 PM
god damn it i knew britton's string of good starts was too good to be true
9/15/2012 10:25:54 PM
A's woke uptwas not a good 3rd inning for the O's
9/15/2012 10:29:38 PM
looks like we'll avoid the sweep. that's good.
9/16/2012 6:46:08 PM
dylan bundy is getting called up
9/19/2012 9:46:58 AM
hell yeah
9/19/2012 10:47:43 AM
this dang team. next 10 games are against boston and toronto. we could win 95 games.
9/20/2012 2:05:56 AM
HOME RUN BONANZA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!7 home runs by my count
9/26/2012 10:49:31 PM
shame we blew it against Toronto this week. jeez
9/26/2012 10:51:44 PM
being an outsider I have to say the city if Baltimore and its night life kicks Oakland butt. just saying. see y'alll there October 20 weekend for game versus Umd! maybe Baltimore will still be playing then?
9/27/2012 3:10:31 AM
^^i wouldn't call splitting a series "blowing it"...3 games against the shitty Red Sox should give them a chance to make up ground. then 3 in Tampa to close out, and they've played the Rays very well this season. all is not lost as they are 1.5 games behind the Yankees.
9/27/2012 10:57:12 AM
they split a series against the worst team in the AL East. That's "blowing it". Lost a chance to gain ground on the yanks. I don't just wanna be in the play-in game. I wanna take the AL East title, dangit!
