Honestly, one of my biggest food tips is don't take pictures of your food. Many delicious things don't look great unless you do the whole staged lighting angle thing. And I'm not about that. Cook and eat while it's hot. Fuck the 'gram.

Real culinary advice though: cast iron pan, heated up early. Add oil, add onions, and figure it out from there,

Possibly, but that is very situation dependent. Assuming you have a healthy and mutually supportive marriage, I think she's likely looking for positive feedback like "and you are nourishing [name] and I can't wait to meet them."

If she has body image issues, maybe shy away from body comments and reiterate how beautiful you find her and how much you appreciate what she is doing for your family.

I have a planter of chives on my deck that has taught be a lot of unexpected lessons.

Every winter it looks very dead. Its planter freezes solid. The weather here stays at below 20 degrees for weeks at a time. And then every spring it busts through the dried remnants of last year's crop, before I even think to expect growth, and yields beautiful and delicious flowers that feed bees and hummingbirds.

Also, there's some very persistent mildew on my stairs if that counts.

^^^ Pennsylvania electric prices are predatory as hell. You have your choice of a whole bunch of suppliers, but there is next to no transparency about what price you will pay after a usually very short term. I.e., you can sign up for 9 cents per kwh and the next month it goes up to 33 cents per kwh. But you have to call the company to even find out what you are being charged, because the dashboard for the company that handles the billing only updates your "current price" with the price you paid on the last bill.
