not really "innovation" but the iPhone 16e marks the death of the home button and touch id

lightning was already dealt its death knell, but this formalizes that

I think if they had made a new SE, I might've gotten it, but this 16e doesn't seem to be worth it... if I ever got a new phone I'd just go for the 16

I've had ios26 developers beta for a few days now. It is ok. Some of the changes in graphics etc will take a min to get used to.

I’m a Vision Pro user but I think apple is headed into a new dark ages. They don’t have any inspiring projects on the horizon. Maybe the alleged glasses will be a hit. I like the Vision Pro but in the best possible form I think it will stay niche

Their best bet is to reboot their entire design philosophy around AI but if they’re doing this they’re being extremely tight lipped about it.

For myself, it is one of 3 options:

1. Replace battery in my 13 and keep it another couple years
2. Get a 15(preferably pro)
3. Go with android(probably a pixel)

I'm considering getting an Apple Watch to replace my https://www.thelightphone.com/. I got off the terminally online check your phone when you take a piss train early this year, but the light phone sucks balls. Basically impossible to text people when I need to.

Anyone using the watch as a primary device? I hate the battery life, been a Garmin watch wearer for a decade. Like getting 2 weeks out of it.

I would be highly pissed if I was going for a run and it was dead because I didn’t charge it over night. Also longer hikes and adventuring makes it a non option.

My wife has the latest Fenix. I could I guess but thought it needed a phone. I don’t want a smartphone.

The longer hike thing i guess. Not really an every day scenario. The running thing even i don't get. Like if it were at even 8% you could do the run. Then there is the fact you could put it on charger for 10-15 min to give it a few more percent to get through the exercise? Its just such a smalll amount of charging time that is required, for people to be exaggerating(my word, not theirs) a daily charging

ended up pulling the trigger on an orange pro max

don't really regret. definitely just an incremental upgrade on the 11 i had-- but everything being faster is really nice

also glad to have a camera that can zoom again-- kinda annoying apple made the base models have a wideangle instead of telephoto lens.

also i was surprised at how much i liked the Air. i would have bought that one but my partner convinced me if we had to flee in a civil war, i'd appreciate the longer battery of the pro max.
