Higher. Faster. Stronger. It's the better of the two Olympics. And it starts this week. Let's goooooo!!!!

Basketball is a winter sport and should be in the winter olympics (or hockey should be in the summer olympics so as to not interfere with the professional season, like with the olympics and professional basketball.) I will die on this hill.]
2/2/2026 2:39:37 PM
Interesting - never thought of it like that but I think that because basketball is that it's a sport that is played in room temperature conditions and there is no need for snow nor ice so that's why it's in the Summer Olympics.
2/2/2026 2:43:29 PM
Basketball was explicitly invented as a winter sport as a way to exercise when going outside was unpleasant. It has for the entirety of its existence been a sport played in winter. There is nothing about any of the skating sports that requires winter anymore so than basketball since they are all held indoors in climate controlled arenas. This isn't the ICE OLYMPICS
2/2/2026 2:49:43 PM
basketball season is fall through winter. Summer is always off season. being an indoor sport does not mean it is a summer sport.

2/2/2026 2:51:30 PM
Ok then call it the ice or snow olympics.
2/2/2026 3:08:45 PM
Basketball was also invented by a Canadian, Dr. James Naismith, so yeah - there might be something to Justin's train of thought...i'mma gonna dial up Samaranch and get this done
2/2/2026 3:31:50 PM
I mean I agree that there should be indoor sports at leastwould be good for television ratings, and for bored sports watchers

2/6/2026 10:52:58 PM
Is there any reason to watch any of this? The sports suck compared to the Summer Olympics, so are there any human interest stories worth anything? I guess it'd be cool to beat Russia or Canada in some events, but other than that...
2/7/2026 11:03:05 PM
Lindsey Vonn is skiing with a freshly torn ACL, so you could watch that i guess.I enjoy most of the winter olympics sports more than summer tbh. Skiing > running. Hockey > basketball. Figure skating = gymnastics, but i don't care about either of those.I do have to hand it to the summer games though, handball is pretty fuckin great. I would argue that handball > curling]

Lindsey Vonn WAS skiing with a freshly torn ACL. . .

Congratulations to the French ice dancing pair on their gold medal, although I'm not sure how someone who is from canada and has previously represented both Canada and Denmark in international competitions (including Canada in the last Olympics) is a french athlete but ok.I guess it's because her former partner (and still boyfriend) is banned from competition because of rape allegations and her new partner is actually french. Seems kinda against the olympic spirit but whatever you gotta do to win baby!!![Edited on February 11, 2026 at 5:11 PM. Reason : Ugh]

I was in Milan about 3 days before start of Olympics. I got in and out of Linate airport which is the second largest airport of Milan. I barely saw any banners, fanfare, booths, etc., in the airport or along the highways coming out of the airport. Forget grandeur, it felt like they were totally unprepared. Pack's ball games give a way better vibe. If it was in Asia, the whole city would have been dressed up like a bride.

Good video. Not from the Olympics. No Olympic symbols at all. It's from 2022, but it IS from Italy.

Curling is so amazing. How do they have so much concentration that they're able to slide that rock over the ice and get it to stop exactly where they want it to? It seems like every now and then they'd scre-up and completely wiff a slide, but it never seems to happen. And seems like occastionally the scrubbers would hit the stone with their stick or step on it, or another stone, or fall, but I don't think i've ever seen that happen either.

Cheap Temu medals are breaking. Also, they're supposed to have a built in break away mechanism between the medal and ribbon. Do we have a precedent where a previous medal winner died because their ribbon didn't tear away from their medal and they were strangulated? This world gets softer every day!
2/12/2026 12:32:40 PM
love to see Canada dropping F-bombs in curling

That Kazak guy killed it in figure skating. I felt bad for Ilia, crazy amount of pressure and expectations

also it makes me a bit sad how much Queen fell off with their hits in the 80s I mean it's 100000000 times better than I'll ever do at anything, but the 80s stupid cheap synth sound ruined a lot of good 60s/especially 70s bands there are obviously a lot of 80s bangers, but most of them were not from bands who continued from the 70s, unfortunatelyinb4 the coz brings up some internet-coined term for how people say older music is better
