i made a tww discord a long time ago but never shared it cus honestly I think discord sucks. but so does slack. and reddit. and facebook (groups). all of which tww already has or has had at various points.

so you do you BIGc (glad to see you posting again btw). at the end of the day i'm a social network free market maximalist type of BDFL. tww can tww anywhere it wants. this will always be home base though. may the best tww win

Thanks for the support. Forums based message boards are a dying breed. When my co-conspirator and I built the Discord for work, the way we pitched it internally was that it's the community for the next-generation of customer. Management liked that approach.

I pretty well hate Slack, so Discord was a good fit for what we were after.

Most importantly, fuck wolfwall.

How is discord any different than a "forum based message board"?

Cause we have the ability to chat without posting in threads? To me it is basically the same thing

If anything it was too busy, and i disliked the color schemes. Tww nice and neat

slack and discord are primarily channel based. chit chat becomes 1 giant neverending thread

they both have reply threads and the concept of a channel as a collection of threads (posts) bolted on, but they are both channel-first discussion platforms. it's inadequate.

You'd have entertainment with the same threads as here, sports with same threads as here, etc

looks like you can't do html code but can embed youtube videos. discord is so cluttered though. i wish threads and the chat were like separated

I personally love Discord and just saw this and joined. I've been running a Discord for years now to transition one of my photography groups from Facebook to something that younger people would use, as well as people who are dumping Facebook. I've found it to be great and a lot better for allowing a live discussion between users than Facebook. That said I still think TWW and CrazyCode are miles better than Facebook and in my opinion I think TWW and Reddit are very similar for how discussions flow.

You can use old.reddit if the new system is too confusing for you to keep track of. I personally have no issue following discussions with the "new" Reddit discussions tabs or whatever they call them.
